What it does

Spot AI sells an AI camera system and cloud video platform used for security, safety and operations. In October 2024 it launched what it calls Video AI Agents, which it says can send alerts, analyze data, activate lights or sounds, issue verbal commands and initiate machinery adjustments. Examples given by the company and press include shutting down a malfunctioning robotic arm and sounding an alarm when someone enters a building without a hard hat. In March 2026 it said the platform was evolving toward "AI coworkers."

Who it is for

Spot AI says it serves 1,000 customers across 17 industries, including manufacturing, retail, healthcare, education, auto services and construction. Buyers are often operations, security or IT leaders rather than EHS teams alone. The company was founded in 2018 by Tanuj Thapliyal, Rish Gupta and Sud Bhatija and is based in San Francisco.

How it is deployed

Spot AI supplies its own cameras and on-site video recorders connected to its cloud platform. Prospective buyers with large existing camera estates should ask what third-party camera support exists and what it costs. From May 1, 2026 the company said it would sell only through channel partners, so implementation and first-line support will usually come from an integrator.

Notable public customers and coverage

Spot AI raised a $40 million Series B led by Scale Venture Partners in 2022. In October 2024 it announced $31 million in new equity with Qualcomm Ventures joining Scale, StepStone, Redpoint and Bessemer, for $93 million in total funding. It named Elite Comfort Solutions as a customer and cited a 40% injury reduction in manufacturing; this is a vendor claim. Some coverage of the agents launch raised concerns about workplace surveillance, a point worth discussing with worker representatives.

Things to ask in an evaluation

  • Which safety detections are generally available, and how do they compare with specialist safety vendors?
  • Can the platform ingest your existing cameras, and with what limitations?
  • What controls stop an agent from taking an unsafe or unintended action on machinery?
  • How do safety events flow into your EHS system?
  • Which partner will deliver and support the deployment in your region?
  • How is the 40% injury figure defined, and across how many sites?
