What it does
Everguard.ai sells Sentri360, a safety monitoring platform that the company says combines computer vision, sensor fusion, edge computing and wearables. At its commercial launch in April 2020, Everguard listed PPE detection, safety zone compliance, fall detection, proximity warnings and cobble detection (a steel mill event where hot metal leaves the rolling line). Later announcements added crane-to-crane and crane-to-worker collision warnings, virtual fencing for restricted areas and SOS alerts through wearables. The company also describes "Sentri Zones" that alert workers approaching overhead cranes, and says the system can watch for heat stress and air quality. Alerts go to workers and supervisors in near real time, with a cloud portal for analytics and coaching.
Who it is for
Sentri360 was built first for steelmaking, and Everguard said it planned to extend it to metals, construction and oil and gas. Its public deployments are in steel and tube manufacturing. The company is headquartered in Irvine, California, and is led by CEO Sandeep Pandya. The Orange County Business Journal reported in 2020 that BCG Digital Ventures and SeAH Global, part of a South Korean steel group, recruited Pandya to lead the company and made an initial investment of several million dollars. Everguard has not published a funding total.
How it is deployed
Unlike software that only reads existing CCTV, Sentri360 is a combined system of cameras, location technology, wearables and on-site edge processing. The Zekelman Industries deployment used computer vision, real-time location systems and wearables feeding an AI system that produced near real-time alerts. Because the system can rely on wearables and location tracking, buyers should expect more hardware, installation and worker consultation than with a camera-only product.
Notable public customers and coverage
In October 2020 Zekelman Industries said it had deployed Sentri360 at its Atlas Tube plant in Blytheville, Arkansas, to check that the truck tarping safety system in its shipping bays was being used. In November 2021 SeAH Besteel announced a three-year expansion of Sentri360 across its Gunsan, Korea plant, following a trial that began in early 2020. SeAH Changwon Integrated Special Steel also announced a partnership. In June 2023 Everguard said researchers at the University of Texas had rated Sentri360 the best commercially available computer vision system for worker safety in their evaluation; this is reported by the company. The press releases do not include quantified safety outcomes.
Things to ask in an evaluation
- Which detections run on cameras alone, and which need wearables or location tags?
- What hardware is needed per area, and who installs and maintains it in high-heat, high-dust zones?
- How do workers consent to wearables and location tracking, and what data is kept about individuals?
- What measured results can reference customers such as SeAH or Zekelman share, and how were they baselined?
- How does Sentri360 connect to crane controls, EHS software or plant systems?
- What is the company's current funding and support capacity for multi-site rollouts?
