What it does

ELOKON makes driver assistance and pedestrian warning systems for forklifts and other industrial trucks. Its main pedestrian product, ELOshield, uses ultra-wideband (UWB) radio, a short-range radio method that measures distance from signal travel time, between a module on the truck and a personal module worn by each pedestrian [3]. When a person is inside a set distance, the driver gets visual and audible alerts, the pedestrian's module sounds and vibrates, and the truck can be slowed to walking speed [3]. ELOKON says detection works through materials, with person detection from 1 to 15 meters and vehicle zones up to 25 meters [3].

ELOvision is a truck-mounted AI camera that detects pedestrians without tags, processes video on the device, and can slow the truck in warning zones or when it reads QR codes placed at crossings [4]. ELOshieldAI combines the tag-based and camera-based approaches [5]. ELOprotect uses laser scanners for very narrow aisle (VNA) trucks, and ELOKON says it is type-examination tested to Performance Level d under EN 13849-1 [6]. ELOfleet handles access control, pre-use checklists and impact recording [7].

Who it is for

The products target warehouses, distribution centers and plants where forklifts and pedestrians share space, including VNA racking areas [3] [6]. ELOKON says its systems fit any forklift brand or age [3]. ELOshield is described as an assistance system that supports the driver only within its system limits [3].

How it is deployed

ELOshield has three layouts: truck-to-person modules (GO), truck-to-truck modules (DRIVE), and fixed modules mounted above gates or aisle crossings that slow approaching trucks (ZONE) [3]. ELOvision adds a camera and a hub that connects to truck controls [4]. ELOfleet can be hosted on Microsoft Azure or on-premises, and offers an anonymous mode with no driver assignment [7].

Notable public customers and coverage

ELOKON GmbH is registered in Tornesch with Alexander Glasmacher as managing director [1]. The company says it was founded in 1986, is privately financed, and employs over 130 people [2]. Trade press reported its Atlanta subsidiary opening in 2019 [12]. ELOKON publishes named case studies, including Glencore in Rhode Island, which it says has had no significant forklift incidents since installation [8], DSM Nutritional Products in Poland [9], 25 VNA trucks at an Amazon site in Graben, Germany [10], and Feldschlösschen in Switzerland [11]. These are vendor-published. A 2024 ABI Research report on lift truck telematics includes a section on ELOKON; the report is paywalled [13]. We found no independent test of ELOshield or ELOvision.

Things to ask in an evaluation

  • What false alarm and missed detection rates does ELOvision have, and how were they measured?
  • Does ELOvision store video or images, and who can access them?
  • Which functions carry a safety rating, and which are assistance only?
  • How are personal modules charged, checked and issued to visitors?
  • Can ELOfleet data be exported to your EHS or maintenance systems?

Our take

Strengths

  • One vendor covers tag-based UWB, tagless cameras, VNA laser scanners and fleet software, with retrofit to mixed fleets [3] [4] [6].
  • Hosting choice for fleet data, cloud or on-premises, plus an anonymous mode [7].
  • Several named customer case studies across industries and countries [8] [9] [10] [11].

Watch-outs

  • No published accuracy method or independent test for ELOvision or ELOshield [4] [3].
  • Outcomes are vendor-reported testimonials, not measured before and after data [8].
  • No public pricing, security documentation or video data handling details [4] [7].

Best fit: Sites with mixed forklift fleets that want proximity warnings with automatic slowdown and are willing to pilot camera detection alongside wearables.
