What it does
Benchmark Gensuite sells a cloud platform for environment, health and safety, quality, sustainability and product stewardship. Its EHS modules cover incident management, inspections, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), concern reporting, training, risk assessment, behavior-based safety, contractor management and permit to work. Environmental modules handle air, water and waste compliance, permits and refrigerant leaks, and the sustainability tools cover carbon accounting, ESG disclosure and reporting under the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). The company says its AI assistant, Genny, is built into workflows and includes AI agents and computer vision features; buyers should confirm which are generally available.
Who it is for
The platform is aimed at large multi-site enterprises in sectors including automotive, chemicals, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, oil and gas, construction and manufacturing. The company says more than 20% of the Fortune 500 use it and that it serves over 8 million workers; these figures come from the vendor.
The business started at General Electric. EHS managers R. Mukund and Natasha Porter conceived it in 1997, and it launched in 2000 as GE Powersuite. It was renamed Gensuite in 2005, became an independent company in 2010, and rebranded as Benchmark in January 2021. In 2023 it opened a new world headquarters in Deerfield Township, near Mason, Ohio, and the company website gives Mason as its headquarters.
How it is deployed
Benchmark Gensuite is delivered as SaaS with mobile apps that the company says work offline and in multiple languages. Large customers typically roll out modules in phases, configure workflows to their own procedures, and connect HR, training and operational systems. Its field safety app is sold under the name Anvl.
Notable public customers and coverage
Benchmark Gensuite announced in January 2025 that Verdantix had named it a Leader in the Green Quadrant for EHS software 2025. In that report Verdantix grouped it with Cority, Enablon, Evotix, Intelex, Sphera and VelocityEHS as vendors with broad all-round EHS capabilities. The company says it was also a Verdantix Leader for EHS software and for ESG and sustainability reporting in 2026. Its 2023 headquarters announcement said it served more than 400 companies worldwide.
Things to ask in an evaluation
- Which modules are licensed separately, and how does pricing scale with sites and users?
- Which Genny AI features are generally available today, and does your data train shared models?
- What computer vision features exist in the platform, and do they need specific cameras or partners?
- How do events from camera analytics, wearables or sensors enter the incident and CAPA workflows?
- How long does a typical multi-site implementation take, and who delivers it?
- How are offline mobile records synchronized and protected?
